Our team’s work spans community administration, federal policy reform, consultation and engagement, national entrepreneurship initiatives, and post-secondary Indigenization and decolonization. 

This breadth of experience allows us to support clients with a deep understanding of both the lived realities within communities and the complexities of government, policy, and corporate systems—bridging perspectives with insight, credibility, and actionable strategies.

Nation Building and Governance in Practice

Áhskwa Consulting's leadership team brings hands on experience in Indigenous governance at local, regional, and national levels. Our work has included senior administrative, communications, and intergovernmental roles within First Nations, as well as advisory positions focused on political and governance reform.

This practical understanding informs the tools and frameworks we create, helping Nations strengthen jurisdiction, clarify roles and responsibilities, and align decisions with their own laws, values, and priorities.

Shaping National Indigenous Economic Policy

Áhskwa Consulting has led national research, design, and policy development initiatives on Indigenous procurement and economic growth in partnership with organizations such as the National Aboriginal Capital Corporations Association. Our work has contributed to measurable policy shifts, including the federal government’s 5% Indigenous procurement target, which has opened millions of dollars in new opportunities for Indigenous businesses, communities, and entrepreneurs.

Building Indigenous Entrepreneurship Ecosystems

From co-designing and delivering the Kwe-Biz Indigenous Women’s Entrepreneurship Program, which supported over 90 Indigenous women across Ontario, to playing an instrumental role in co-developing Canada’s first online Indigenous youth entrepreneurship platform, Áhskwa Consulting turns vision into operational reality.

Our programs combine curriculum design, cohort-based learning, individualized advising, and ecosystem strategy to build sustainable entrepreneurial pathways grounded in Indigenous economics, innovation, and community priorities.

Leading Climate, Land, and Place Based Initiatives

Áhskwa Consulting integrates Indigenous knowledge systems into climate and environmental solutions that are practical, relational, and community driven. We developed the Indigenous Climate Hub with Crown Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs Canada (CIRNAC), a national platform showcasing Indigenous climate leadership and adaptation strategies. Our work spans national climate gatherings, circular-economy planning, and land-based research, bringing together policy design and traditional knowledge to support communities as they adapt to environmental change

Proven Facilitation, Teaching, and Public Engagement

Áhskwa Consulting's consultants have designed and taught credit and non-credit courses, facilitated national policy discussions, and delivered workshops and keynotes across Canada and internationally. Whether working with youth, Elders, executives, or government leaders, our facilitation approach is relational, inclusive, and solutions focused.
